Tucumcari has TWO museums, both of which are a must to visit

Located at 416 South Adams Street, (575) 461-4201. It has thousands of items on display in 3 different buildings and on ground displays. The Firehouse has become the Historical Route 66 Exhibit and is free to the public. It contains a mural of "The Mother Road" through Quay County, a 1926 fire engine, and other memorabilia representing life along that highway. Because of the Railroad, the museum has a caboose on the grounds plus inside items vary from Indian artifacts, cowboy room, early hospital display, artwork, photos, moonshine still, and the never ending displays that are changed often.
