CITY OF TUCUMCARI

SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
OCTOBER 9, 2007

The Tucumcari City Commission met in special session on Tuesday, October 9, 2007, at 5:30 p.m. in the City Commission Chambers. Members present constituting a quorum were Christopher Maestas, Jim Lafferty, Antonio Apodaca, and Jim Witcher.

City staff members present were John R. Sutherland, City Manager; Jeannette Maddaford, City Clerk/Assistant Finance Director; Clara Rey, Administrative Assistant; and Daniel Lopez, Police Consultant.

Mayor Pro Tem Apodaca called the meeting to order and led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. 

New Business

The appointment of a new City Commissioner from District 4 was the order of business for the special meeting. Letters of interest were received from Keith Hayes, Mark Hodge, and Robert Lumpkin. Commissioner Witcher noted that Mr. Hodge’s letter was found in the Utility Payment Drop Box Tuesday, October 9, 2007. The advertisement called for the letters to be received by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 8, 2007. Mayor Pro Tem Apodaca called for nominations. Commissioner Maestas nominated Robert Lumpkin. A motion was made by Commissioner Lafferty for nominations to cease and Commissioner Witcher seconded the motion. Roll Call:

A motion was made by Commissioner Maestas and seconded by Commissioner Lafferty to appoint Robert Lumpkin as District 4 City Commissioner. Roll Call:

Items from Commissioners 

Commissioner Maestas noted that the Commission had made a wise choice in selecting Mr. Lumpkin. He has known him for 30 years and is a good parliamentarian and will make a good Commissioner.

Adjournment

There being no further business, a motion to adjourn was made by Commissioner Witcher and seconded by Commissioner Maestas. Time noted 5:34 p.m. Roll Call:
