The Tucumcari Fire Department is a combination career/volunteer fire department. Members are paid a stipend for calls which they respond to. The department operates out of a main station located in downtown Tucumcari, and a sub-station located in the south end of town. An Administrative office is located near City Hall.
The department provides fire prevention and suppression for the incorporated city, as well as mutual aid for the surrounding rural fire districts. The department also provides rescue with licensed EMT's and works closely withe Tucumcari Emergency Medical Service which provides medical transport. The department has hazardous material first responders and has regular training twice per month.
The department responds to approximately two hundred alarms per year, with approximately fifty of these being medical rescue calls. Our responses are mainly vehicle accidents, and we cover over 150 miles of interstate and state highways in our response area.
