The City of Tucumcari is currently accepting applications for the following positions.


CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER - This position enforces provisions of the municipal code pertaining to violations of code and/or zoning through inspections and investigations. Investigates reports of violations and/or failure to comply with codes; gathers evidence and makes reports; keeps record of violations and follows up to secure correction of situation. Position requires knowledge of ordinances, zoning regulations and/or codes of the municipality. Applicant must possess strong communication skills and an ability to work with the public in stressful situations. Applicant needs a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.  Bilingual preferred.  An Associate’s Degree; plus two (2) years’ experience in inspection and/or enforcement work is preferred.  Experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis.

ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER AND WASTE WATER TREATMENT PLANT LABORER- This full time position will serve as both an animal control officer and a laborer to the Waste Water Department.  Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age.  Written and oral testing will be administered.  Applicant must be a US citizen, no felony convictions, and must possess good verbal and writing skills. Applicants must pass all phases of testing to be considered for position. This position will help with the excavation of piping and valving, grounds maintenance such as mowing grass and watering grounds, cleaning, sweeping, dusting, and hosing floors.  Help Waste Water operators and Animal Control with daily duties and provide safety help when needed. Experience with handling animals is preferred but not required. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and do repetitive motions such as bending and climbing.
Police Officer - Applicants must be a minimum of 21 years of age. Law enforcement experience and certification is preferred, but not required.  Written, oral, and physical agility testing will be administered, must be a US citizen, no felony convictions, and must possess good verbal and writing skills. Must also pass all phases of testing to be considered for position. Interested applicants for all openings must have a High School diploma or GED and a valid New Mexico driver’s license with no major driving infractions.  Applicants must be willing to submit to a post offer pre-employment drug and alcohol test. BASIC, EMT-I and PARAMEDICS - These positions require individuals who are able to respond to emergency care and rescue; maintain control, manage and direct patient care at the scene of a pre-hospital emergency; and perform other emergency medical procedures. Drives and/or manages the ambulance while on duty, operates in a safe manner while responding to the scene and during the transport of patients.  Applicants must possess Basic, EMT- I or Paramedic certification.  These positions will remain open.

 

BARTENDERS: Under administrative direction of the Convention Center Director candidates will work on an as needed basis, for numerous events. Must have servers license and experience is desired. Interested applicants must have a valid New Mexico driver’s license with no major driving infractions.  Applicants must be willing to submit to a post offer pre-employment drug and alcohol test. Part-Time Library Clerk/Aide:  Interested applicants need to have general office and computer skills and be able to communicate clearly, effectively and courteously with management, co-workers, customers and visitors, in person and by telephone.  Applicants must be willing to work flexible hours including weekends and some holidays. The positions requires the ability to maintain balance and equilibrium while ascending or descending ladders and/or open stair, lift and carry up to 15 pounds; and is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED.
