POSITION OPENING



The City of Tucumcari is currently accepting applications to fill the following positions:


Streets/Sanitation Department - Heavy Equipment Operator/Truck Departments-Applicant must be able to operate various types of trucks and heavy equipment, and must have a valid Commercial Driver’s License. Landfill Certification, not required, but preferred.


Wastewater Operator – Wastewater Department – Applicant must be able to operate machinery, pumps, and related equipment in the wastewater treatment facility and must be willing to study and obtain wastewater certification. Preference may be given to those who possess a Wastewater Certification.


All applicants must have a high school diploma, or GED as well as a valid New Mexico Driver’s License, without any major driving infractions. In addition, applicants must be willing to submit to a post offer, pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.


Persons interested in any of these positions must submit an application to City Hall, 215 East Center Street, P.O. Box 1188, Tucumcari, NM 88401. The City of Tucumcari is currently accepting applications for the position of Chief of Police. Applicant must be a New Mexico State Certified Police Officer, and have experience in police administration. Advanced leadership/command level training such as the FBI National Academy, Northwestern University Center for Public Safety’s Staff and Command School, or a comparable leadership training program, is desired. Additionally, applicant must possess the following qualifications: community oriented and able to work well within the community, capable of creating, establishing and implementing community programs and projects; computer and organizational skills a must; excellent communications skills (oral and written); proficiency in preparing and adhering to budget; unblemished background; and must reside within a 3 mile radius of Tucumcari, if hired. Applicant must be willing to submit to a post offer,

pre-employment drug and alcohol test. Applications may be obtained at City Hall or at the City of Tucumcari website at www.cityoftucumcari.com. Salary is dependent on qualifications. Completed applications must be returned to City of Tucumcari, PO Box 1188, Tucumcari, NM, 88401. All applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 2010 to be considered for this position. This is an appointed position and will remain open until filled.
