The City of Tucumcari is currently accepting applications for the following positions.

Human Resources/Risk Management Director-This position is responsible for overseeing the city’s personnel and risk management programs.  This includes classification and pay, employee relations, recruitment and selection, workers compensation, performance appraisals, payroll and benefits administration, safety meetings and inspections.  Manages Human Resources and Risk Management in a professional manner.  Reviews and makes recommendations regarding the classifications and pay plan; advises management on changes needed when reorganizations occur or duties change; administers fair and equitable pay policy within the pay plan. Researches and recommends new or revised programs, policies or procedures to City Manager; advises City Manager, department heads, and employees on city policies and procedures.  Develops and implements city policies and procedures.  Monitor compliance of policies with local, state, and federal wage and hour laws, fair labor standards, FMLA, ADA, and EEOC law. Provide assistance to department heads in the hiring, disciplining, and termination. Maintains and oversees the personnel performance appraisal system and ensures that supervisory personnel are knowledgeable in its administration.  Oversees system input of payroll information of new employees, changes in deductions, and personal changes; oversees the processing and maintenance of personnel records and files.  Must have knowledge of administrative, managerial, and supervisory practices and techniques involved in direction personnel management programs and services.  Requires the ability to organize and supervise effective personnel management programs and services and to promote personnel management practices and principles.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, employees and the public.  Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups orally and in writing. Qualifications desired: four year degree in Human Resources or related field with three years’ experience, may substitute experience for education.  Starting salary is $44,000 per year.  Applications will be accepted at City Hall, 215 E. Police Officer -
 Applicants must be a minimum of 21 years of age. Law enforcement experience and certification is preferred, but not required.  Written, oral, and physical agility testing will be administered, must be a US citizen, no felony convictions, and must possess good verbal and writing skills. Must also pass all phases of testing to be considered for position. Interested applicants for all openings must have a High School diploma or GED and a valid New Mexico driver’s license with no major driving infractions.  Applicants must be willing to submit to a post offer pre-employment drug and alcohol test. PART-TIME ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER-This position has a 20 hour work week. Applicant is responsible to capture and impound unlicensed, stray, and uncontrolled animals, utilizing proper procedures, as well as investigating complaints, and destroying unclaimed animals.  Applicant must be willing to attend training/certification school on Animal Control and adhere to rules and regulations. 

 

BARTENDERS: Under administrative direction of the Convention Center Director candidates will work on an as needed basis, for numerous events. Must have servers license and experience is desired. Interested applicants must have a valid New Mexico driver’s license with no major driving infractions.  Applicants must be willing to submit to a post offer pre-employment drug and alcohol test. BASIC, EMT-I and PARAMEDICS: These positions require individuals who are able to respond to emergency care and rescue; maintain control, manage and direct patient care at the scene of a pre-hospital emergency; and perform other emergency medical procedures. Drives and/or manages the ambulance while on duty, operates in a safe manner while responding to the scene and during the transport of patients.  Applicants must possess Basic, EMT- I or Paramedic certification.  These positions will remain open.
