The City of Tucumcari is currently accepting applications for the following positions.

 


ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT - This position provides administrative and secretarial support for the Community Development office.  Applicant must be able to manage and coordinate various funding opportunities for the City of Tucumcari and provide support for planning and zoning issues along with other aspects involved in the office.   Applicants must be proficient in Word, Excel and Access; have strong written and verbal communication skills; and excellent organizational skills. WATER OPERATOR OIT: This candidate will perform basic work in the operation of the water distribution and sewer collection systems. This is the entry- level position in the Water Operator class. Typical assignments include cleaning and maintenance of ground and shop areas, assisting with repairs to leaking or broken water mains, inspection of equipment, storage tanks and wells, adjustment, installation and repair of service connections, repair and preventative maintenance of water distribution and waste water collection system lines. The Operator OIT closely follows standard procedures for accurate process control under the supervision of a more senior Operator(s) to maintain operations within regulatory requirements.

CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER - This position enforces provisions of the municipal code pertaining to violations of code and/or zoning through inspections and investigations. Investigates reports of violations and/or failure to comply with codes; gathers evidence and makes reports; keeps record of violations and follows up to secure correction of situation. Position requires knowledge of ordinances, zoning regulations and/or codes of the municipality. Applicant must possess strong communication skills and an ability to work with the public in stressful situations. Applicant needs a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.  Bilingual preferred.  An Associate’s Degree; plus two (2) years’ experience in inspection and/or enforcement work is preferred.  Experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis. BARTENDERS: Under administrative direction of the Convention Center Director candidates will work on an as needed basis, for numerous events. Must have servers license and experience is desired. Interested applicants must have a valid New Mexico driver’s license with no major driving infractions.  Applicants must be willing to submit to a post offer pre-employment drug and alcohol test. BASIC, EMT-I and PARAMEDICS: These positions require individuals who are able to respond to emergency care and rescue; maintain control, manage and direct patient care at the scene of a pre-hospital emergency; and perform other emergency medical procedures. Drives and/or manages the ambulance while on duty, operates in a safe manner while responding to the scene and during the transport of patients.  Applicants must possess Basic, EMT- I or Paramedic certification.  These positions will remain open.

Section 8 Specialist for Housing Authority (Full time) :  Eligible applicant should be able to multitask, work in a fast paced environment, be proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel, ability to understand basic accounting procedures and book keeping and possess good customer service skills. The candidate will work directly under the supervision of the executive director, conducting day to day operations, including but not limited to processing applications and assisting individuals that qualify for housing assistance. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, and a valid N.M. Driver’s License, with no major driving infractions, and be willing to submit to a post-offer, pre-employment drug/alcohol screening.
