SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
June 30, 2010
The Tucumcari City Commission met in a special meeting on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at 9:07 a.m. in the City Commission Chambers. Members present constituting a quorum were Antonio Apodaca, Amiel Curnutt and Robert Lumpkin.
City staff members present were Mike Cherry, Assistant City Manager; Doug Powers, Community Development Director; and Christine Dougherty, City Clerk.
Mayor Pro Tem Apodaca led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

There were no changes or deletions suggested for the agenda.

Items From Citizens
Mayor Apodaca asked if anyone wished to address the Commission. Being none, the meeting continued.
Old Business
Commissioner Lumpkin made a motion to approve the transfer of Liquor License Number 2662, Wescot Inc. /Caravan Express. Commissioner Curnutt seconded the motion. Roll Call:

New Business
Mr. Powers explained that an RFP was issued for engineering services at the Railroad Plaza. Five proposals were received and a committee of EDC, Mainstreet and City officials rated and ranked the proposals. The committee agreed that Wilson and Company’s proposal was the best.
Commissioner Lumpkin asked if local engineers were contacted and asked to submit proposals. Mr. Powers responded in the positive.
Mr. Apodaca asked if any out of state firms submitted bids. Mr. Powers responded that one proposal was received from Texas.
Commissioner Lumpkin made a motion to approve the engineering proposal from Wilson and Company for engineering services at the railroad plaza. Mr. Curnutt seconded the motion. Roll Call:

Mr. Lumpkin commented that he hopes the Sands Dorsey building can be taken care of soon. He stated that he would like to see the space be used for the public. Perhaps with a performance area and that the historical value honored.
Mr. Curnutt stated that he has been approached by downtown business owners that hoped a public restroom could be incorporated into the downtown revitalization.
